Autism East Midlands recently received £500 from Newark and Sherwood District Council to support our Newark-based Family Support Hub.
Our Newark Family Support Hub has recently been awarded £500 as part of the Newark & Sherwood District Council Community Lottery Fund.
The Community Lottery Fund allows local charities and good causes to register with a chance of receiving a prize every week, under the criteria that it must be a cause that benefits Newark and Sherwood District and its residents.
When Lesley Lock, our Families Manager, registered for the draw right before Christmas, she had no idea they would select our Newark Family Hub as a winner!
These funds will go towards purchasing more toys, fidgets and lights for sensory play and other activities.
These meet-ups usually take place on the first Saturday of the month at the St Giles Community Hall.

What is a Family Support Hub?
Our Family Support Hubs are welcoming spaces for parents and families to bring their children, whether or not they have a diagnosis of autism, to find support and guidance from one of our dedicated coordinators.
Families can also use the opportunity to meet others and socialise, as well as find peer networks to support them with whatever challenges or topics they may wish to share.
These hubs take place across the East Midlands including Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.
Family Support Hubs are aimed at children up to 11 years old (with the exception of our Teen Hub in Mansfield Woodhouse), but we also have hubs and social spaces aimed at older children and adults.
For services aimed at older children and adults, contact our services below:
- Neurohubs - support for neurodiverse individuals up to age of 25
- Social Autism Space - social group for autistic adults
