Chesterfield Football Coach backs AEM in London Marathon

Chesterfield football coach and former player Gary Roberts will be running the London Marathon on Sunday to raise money for Autism East Midlands.
Gary's football career began in Liverpool but over the course of his career he has played for a wide range of teams including Accrington Stanley, Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and Chesterfield.
After retiring from football, he joined Chesterfield as first team coach in April 2022.
Chesterfield FC tweeted their support for Gary's fundraiser, asking for others to support his fundraising efforts "to raise awareness of autism and support for those living with autism."
Gary similarly posted on X, referring to the cause as "close to my heart" and wrote the following on his fundraising page:
In an effort to make a positive impact I have committed to completing the London Marathon this year to raise awareness and support for individuals living with autism by raising funds for Autism East Midlands. This remarkable organisation is dedicated to empowering individuals with autism, providing resources for them and their families.

The aim of Gary's fundraiser was to raise £1,500 for Autism East Midlands.
At time of writing, the fundraiser has raised £2,149 for our cause.
A spokesperson for Autism East Midlands said:
Thank you to Gary and all of the runners that will be taking the famous 26.2 mile route on Sunday. We're cheering you on and massively grateful for all the support, enthusiasm and dedication to making the lives of autistic individuals better, and to help them live with dignity, choice and independence.
